I'm Still Here

It's been a while since I last posted. I guess the stress and responsibility of third year are getting to me. While I only have about 7 hours a week on campus for lectures and workshops, I'm doing background reading and the like for the classes, reports, and short essays that are do.

Speaking of reports and essays. I know that separate departments shouldn't be expected to coordinate their assignments and that sometimes you'll just end up with two papers due in the exact same week. I expect that when I'm taking classes from two different departments. But Psychology is all ONE department. You would think someone out there might have said, "Oh look! The third years have a practical report and a perception essay due on Thursday and Friday of the same week. We should probably push one of the back a couple days. Make one of them due on Monday of the next week." Of course that didn't happen and because my practical report advisor is so laid back my group is about a week behind the others. While they are getting their sections looked over and edited, we are just getting our data back. And I know that the perception thing is a max. of 600 words, but that's going to make it more difficult due to the word limit. *sigh*

Also, finding a computer on campus is so frustrating sometimes. Yesterday I decided to work on campus because I tend to get more writing done that way. I started off in the Hub and there was one free computer there except for the fact that someone was sitting at it reading. I mean really!? Couldn't she have been reading in the library or at one of the various tables and leave the computer to someone who needed to work on it? So I tried the library and as it always happens I spot a free computer on the first floor and start heading towards it. Just as I'm about three quarters of the way there someone who is standing a little closer and wasn't paying attention before turns around, spots it, and like runs to the seat. This always leaves me feeling like a small child or a teenage girl fighting over a cute boy; "It's mine! I saw it first!!" Usually after that it's an absolute miracle if I can find a computer in the library. I trek up the rest of the six flights of stairs and then trek back down feeling a little disheartened. Mostly because you see computers that have empty seats but have people's stuff at them. These computers can stand empty and logged out for sometimes over and hour as the person has decided to go take a smoke or eat some lunch or both and has just left their stuff to hold their computer and block all others' attempts at working. I did find one up on the fourth floor yesterday which was great. But still, I kinda wish there were library police or something. If someone has left their computer long enough for it to log itself out then they move their stuff to the front desk or something.

Anyway, my day today is filled with a 9am lecture (sleepy face), a hair appointment (I'm pretty darn shaggy), and then hours of working on the report and perception paper. I'm sure everything will get done, but I'm so ready for a short break. English always had a reading week where there wouldn't be any lectures or tutorials so that you could catch up on reading and work on essays. I wish that psychology had that too. It would be nice to sleep in all week for a change.

Exam Results

My exam results are in and the consensus is...

I need to try harder this semester.

That's not saying that I did horribly. I did fairly well. I just didn't do well enough. That's the long and the short of it. So, this semester I'm going to be a busy bee. Done and done. I'm going to start revising for the exam way ahead of time and make little notes as I go along. The only thing that would make this all easier if there were only three sections to the Psychology course. Instead there are five. This means that four of the sections will only be running for six weeks and I can't justify spending money on a really big, really expensive Psychology book if I'm only using it for six weeks. Ah, well. At least they have them in the library.

I'm also going to try and think of ways to use this blog as a study space. It won't be anything boring (I hope). What I'm thinking about doing is this; after each Psychology lecture I'm going to write a post about what I learned and what the main points of the lecture were. I'll make it as fun and interesting and exciting as possible.

As for right now. I'm either going to read a few chapters in my borrowed library books or start planning for my essay that's due in next Friday.

Sunday's Subject #1: Cold and Grumpy

Right, this is a new thing that I'm going to try in order to be a better blogger for this blog. It's called, as the title would imply, "Sunday's Subject". What my plan is for this is to come up with a subject for every Sunday and make it almost like a conversation. This means that all of you are encouraged to disagree, debate, and comment (you don't always have to disagree, but you're welcome to post your thoughts). Today's subject is "cold and grumpy". Basically, it's cold here and I'm perpetually grumpy. Here's the story;

So, I'm leaving home in a week right? Right! So, I should be happy about this. I'll get to cuddle my little lab Hilly, get cuddled by my giant golden retriever Arwen, and patronize the labradoodle Rosie. Not to mention I'll get to see my cats again and my cats always make my day. I also can't forget the friends I'll see and make merry with over the holiday season. I should be happy about all of this right? I'm not. Not really.

Alright, I am excited to see my animals, friends, and family again. I can't deny it because it would be lying, children, and lying in wrong. So, yes excited. But no, not happy.

You see, I'm a desert child. I grew up in the hot and dry where you had to drink your body weight in water every day and couldn't go outside if the weather man said not to for risk of asthma attacks and heat strokes (not that we always listened to these warnings as children...which, come to think of it, is probably why I developed asthma). I do well in heat...not so much the cold. I know how to deal with the cold (sometimes I think better than some of the teenage girls who have lived here all their lives. You should see some of the things they wear in the winter) and I can keep relatively warm with three layers on my legs and 4 layers on the hips up. As a desert child I think I was taught what to do in the cold just in case I ever happened into a snow storm in my shorts and t-shirt.

Why is all of this important to my bad mood? Because, I like snow even if it means the cold has to come with it. Have we gotten any snow? Nope! It's just been cold and wet. There's a great picture that my friend Sandy drew and I don't think he'll mind that I'm sharing it with you.
A picture my friend Sandy drew. On the right there is a small picture labelled "Winter Wonderland" with a happy, smiling guy. On the left is a picture labelled "Aberdeen" with a sad, downtrodden guy walking through the rain. In between the pictures is the "does not equal" sign.
Pretty much sums up what Aberdeen is like in the winter without snow. He drew this the day we had snow for 5 minutes and everyone got excited and posted their excitement on facebook. He was rather disappointed to wake up to find that there was, in fact, no snow to be found.

Unfortunately, it's not the fact that Aberdeen is cold but isn't snowing that is putting me in a perpetual state of grumpiness. If it were it would be an easy fix of hot chocolate, a blanket, and a good book/movie. The cold is just heightening all the things that are agitating me right now. I don't want to go into too much detail about my private life over the Internet, but how about we just say that it hasn't been the smoothest of months for Miss Erin. And I'm fairly certain that if it weren't freezing and I could sit down with a delicious hot drink and think about the events of the past month that have led up to the "blues" without having to worry about my fingers falling off then I might actually be able to get past them. It is not be.

I also don't think it helps that someone had the bright idea to have an essay due the last day of term! I mean really? Who thought that would produce well thought out and coherent essays? Especially when they decided to give us crap questions. It baffles me. Truly.

Anyway, I know this probably just sounded like a rant about how horrible my life is and how hard I have it, but I promise, it wasn't. I do have a small point to go with all of this woe. And that is that frustration and stress and...just plain sadness are, I think, a big part of being a University student. This is a time when everyone is truly discovering who they are and where they eventually want to be. There's gotta be some emotional trauma that goes with soul searching.

Anyway, I have to get ready for the committee meeting that I really don't want to go to because I got all of 2 hours of sleep last night (oh yeah, insomnia is also a symptoms of my "blues" because my mind never ever stops). But I made a commitment to the society so I'll go. I might even stay in the library to get some work done.

Neuropsychology Lecturer

Alright, I know I said that I was going to try and do two posts today for making up for the whole getting ill thing. But tonight is the last mad dash to get my essay done. It is currently 1,052 words which is just under the minimum limit. It's supposed to be 1,200 words plus or minus ten percent. So, it can be between 1,080 and 1,320 words. It also only happens to be two paragraphs instead of three. I was going to write a third one, but with my argument there really is nothing left to say, I've argued my point well and clearly, and if I add another 400 word paragraph I might go over. So, I'd rather keep it clear and concise than write another paragraph that doesn't add anything to the overall argument. I'm going to think a little more tonight about what I could write and if something comes to me that looks like it might work with my essay then I'll happily put it in.

Oh, but hey, I'm suppose to be telling you about one of my psychology lecturers.

This one is not my favourite lecturers, but he's also not my least favourite. He's right there in the middle. Here are what I think are his main problems. He has interesting things to say (it's neuropsychology after all), but I don't think he conveys it well. Or, rather, he conveys it well when he's speaking but he doesn't really utilize the powerpoint. So I think that the powerpoint is a little distracting at times. I also think he goes a little too fast and a little too slow. He sort of just glazes over some things and then takes his time with other things. It's the things he just speeds through that I don't ever end up having notes for because I just can't type that quickly. I don't dislike him, but I also don't like him. I definitely go to all of his lectures because if I don't I know I'm not going to understand what his slides are saying.

It doesn't help that it's something that it's hard for me to wrap my mind around. If it weren't something that I could easily just get, then it wouldn't be a problem. Ah well.

Writing Exercises and Procrastination

Well, today my first writing exercise of the year is due. Like last year this is just a short critical analysis that won't count toward my final grade. It is marked, but it's really so that your tutor can see where your writing skill level are and how best to help you get a better mark on the first essay (which is due in four weeks). What I don't think the course lecturers, tutors, and course coordinator realise is that if they make something worth absolutely nothing for your final grade then the chances are most students won't give a care to actually do their best. I am a guilty party in this as are most of my friends. I wrote my short critical analysis on the excerpt from Ben Jonson's "Volpone." I don't know if any of you have read or seen "Volpone" but it is one of the most boring comedies I have ever read...ok, I didn't read the last two acts, but my point remains. Why, then, did I write my analysis on "Volpone"?

The answer is very simple. I don't care about "Volpone" and seeing as this doesn't count towards my final grade I didn't want to waste one of the Shakespeare plays on it. Also, it was only suppose to be 550 words (no longer). Now, 550 words may seem like a lot, but its really not. If you think that your introduction and conclusion are suppose to be about 10% of your essay each then you realise that with 550 words each the introduction and the conclusion are really only suppose to be 55 words in length. Not enough to write a coherent introduction. Luckily, the instructions said to not write an intro or a conclusion and just get into the analysis. Still, 550 words with as vague a question you can get is hard because fancy sentences go out the window and you're forced to get straight to the point. But at the same time it's easy because you don't have to worry about being the most eloquent possible, you just have to state the facts.

Having said all this, this assignment was, for some reason, very hard for me to complete. It's not that I didn't understand what was going on in "Volpone" or that I was being lazy and just not doing it. I sat down Wednesday morning and only got 150 horrible words out by Wednesday evening. This is something that should only take me three hours (tops) to write. I think I spent an hour starring at the computer screen without writing a single word at a point.

After realising that no matter what I wrote it was still going to come out as a horrible paper, I started procrastinating. Yesterday we I got home from lectures I decided to mow the lawn (which is a funny story all by itself and deserves its own post) instead of finishing up my analysis. I even decided to do Spanish homework (which also deserves its own post) instead of writing. I put a mental block on the darn thing and it took all my focus and attention and Buffy the Vampire breaks during girls night last night to finish. But it is finished and I hope that it's alright.

All I can say is that I'm glad that Sims3 Pets didn't come out until today or I never would have finished it.

You Say What Now!?

So, you've all had those days right? When you get into your first class of the week, first class of the morning, and first class back from Spring Holiday and you're feelin' pretty good because you know your English essay isn't due until the NEXT Tuesday and then your friend comes along and says, "Erin, what are you talking about? It's due tomorrow." and then you start hyperventilating. I can't be the only to have ever had one of those days right?

8 hours and over 1,600 words of pure CRAP. But, it will be in on time and that's something.

Proof Read and Strict Markers

First day of Spring Break I spent some time with Lisa and Marlene. Now, they were complaining about the marks they received from their English tutor on the first essay. Of course at first I thought that this was just normal, "I think my work deserved a better mark" grumbling. Then they told me a few of the things their tutor wrote on their essays and it started to sounds more like the tutor is just a really hard grader. You do get those occasionally, so I asked to read one of their papers to see if I could make sense of her comments. I really couldn't. She marks papers in a way I absolutely detest because it confuses me on to how I should improve. What she does is underline and circle words...but fails to mention why she has circled or underlined said words. That frustrates me because the reason I have someone marking my paper is so that I can improve and that kind of marking makes it very confusing as to what I need to do to improve. Both got little ticks in the boxes at the "needs improvement side". Here's my "Assignment Appraisal Sheet" for our unassessed exercise. I got a 15 (on a CAS scale of 1-20) which I thought was impressive because I wrote it the morning it was due. *nods* I MEAN! I spent weeks and weeks on it and did extensive research. I slaved over the computer and didn't go out until it was finished...yeah...that one. Though, if you look at the little ticks I think I deserved at least a 16, but I'm not complaining. Anyway, their ticks were all to the right which includes things like "Failure to address the question" and "failure to develop and coherent argument". I read one of the papers and, while I wouldn't have given it over a 16 and I could see the points the tutor made in some parts of the essay, I definitely wouldn't have said that she "failed to address the question" or "failed to develop a coherent argument". It wasn't like a shinning argument that would change the course of the world, but it was pretty coherent.

Then I heard the marks they got and realised they both went down 5 marks from last semestre. That just seems a little fishy to me...unless their writing really, really went down from last semestre.

Then I read the comments she made on one of their papers. She made some comments about grammar. But do you know what I first zoomed in on?

Do you see what I zoomed in on? No? Well, here's a close up then

I don't think it's just the students who need to proof read. I always think it's funny when a teacher says pay attention to grammar and something like this appears in their comments. Especially when they were so adamant about how the paper wasn't all that good.

Really though, I think what bothered (at least Lisa) the most was that when she asked how she could make the argument clearer the tutor said, "Oh, I don't know. I don't really know why I circled those words and why it's unclear, it just is." (or something to that effect) Bad marking? Maybe. She might just be strict, but she should at least be able to say how the students can improve. I mean, that's why we hand in the essays...well, besides the fact that we would fail the course if we didn't.

November 29: Change of Plans

I'm now flying home on the 10th! That means I'm going to get home a whole week sooner than I originally was. Why have I done this? It's not because I'm bored here or any of that, it's because I've been getting a little homesick and really wanted to go home to my dogs and cats...but not my fish...RIP Cunningham. I know, I know. I'll be missing the last week of school. It bothers me a little too, but then most of my older and wiser friends basically said, "What's wrong with missing a week?" when I told them about my apprehension of not going to class for a week. So this is what I think. Most students will miss two lectures per class through the semestre. I have missed one lecture total in all my classes because I was really, really ill. So, I've saved my "I just don't feel like getting out of bed in time to make me 9am class" and "I have a 4 hour break between my morning and my afternoon class...why go to the one hour afternoon class?" ditches and saved them for this week of getting to go home early. It did cost me a little extra to change my flight schedule, but not much...well, not more than I was thinking. And the flight I re booked was actually cheaper than the one I originally booked so I even got to pay less. So, I'm very ok with paying a little extra if that means I get to be in my own room (though, my paint job has probably been painted over) with my own dogs. :) I'm not going to say my own bed because I think they've moved my single bed and the rest of my furniture out and stuck a double bed in. But I don't know yet.

I leave for home in 11 days!!!!! When did the semestre go by?!

BTW: I got a 16 on my Art History essay! YAY! One of the highest scores in the tutorial class. If I had actually proofread the thing for spelling and grammar mistakes I probably (well, that's what he says) would have gotten a 17. I might just stick with Art History.

November 28: Fail

Well, I failed the November Post a Day. Oh well. I just totally forgot that I hadn't posted anything yesterday. I was going to write a short poem about the snow and how it looks a bit like a winter wonderland out there right now. Especially last night. It was just amazingly gorgeous. I mean we got I want to say a good foot of snow last night. And when you're standing out there watching it fall in soft, neat piles all over the sidewalks and houses...well, there's just something magical about it.

Anyway, I hope the Blogging Gods forgive me.

I've been pretty busy with my sonnet for the past week and I finally finished it so now I just have to write an analysis on it in 500 words. I'm thinking this will be pretty easy since I wrote the thing and know exactly why I put this line here and that line there. Sure, a lot of it was because it rhymed, but there are a few strategically placed lines. I don't know if I'm going to post it up here though because I don't want anyone to steal it as their own. Not that I think that anyone would want to steal my sonnet as their own, I'm not that conceited, but you never know.

Only two days left of November! WOW! It kind of flew by so fast. At the end of this month I'm making an exciting announcement. So, stay tuned.

November 23: Ho Hum

College life really can be boring at times. I mean, I'm meant to be working on a few essays right now, but then we come back to the problem that I'm just not motivated enough. Hmm...Erin needs to get a little more motivated about doing well her first year here. It's not that I don't like reading and writing the essays it's just that I'd much rather pleasure read. But I am working on my English essay and tomorrow I'm going to check out some books that will help me on my Modern Gaelic Culture essay. So, I'm not being completely lazy...just a little. I've started to think of ideas for the Shakespearean Sonnet that I'm going to write and then figure out how to spend 500 words talking about my great awesomeness. Haha, just kidding. The sonnet is going to be shite, but it still seems like the easiest essay topic to choose from.

In other news...tomorrow is Wednesday. Just in case you forgot.

November 21: 2 Months

I've been here for two months now and I have to say I like the city. It's really boring, cold, and wet I'll grant you. But it's nice. I can walk to wherever I need to go and it started getting cooler about the time I arrived instead of staying excruciatingly hot until just about now. So, I don't mind the city even though I wish that there was more to do. I'm also getting right along with my studies even though it's easier than the last 4 years of high school wrapped up together. This means that there are times that I'm quite bored. I do have two essays due in the next two weeks though, so hopefully I'll have a little something to do. I'm seriously considering the second essay question for this next essay which is on poetry. The question basically states, "write a sonnet and talk about your own awesomeness." Seriously, that's pretty much what it says. It should be easy and I think I write a fairly decent sonnet.

I realised today that I'm only going to be here for 2-3 weeks. Then I'll be going home until next semestre. That's really exciting! I get to go home and see my dogs Arwen and Rosie, my cats Mia, Sylvester, and Lucy, and my Guide Dog Puppy Rocco. I'm very happy that I'll have Rocco over the whole of my break. He'll be almost a year old when I leave him in January and that's going to be a bit of a...weird thought for a while. Anyway, I'm just excited to see my friends and drive my car. I hate driving, but when I drive my car it's amazing. I love him so very much. Oh, and my family. I'll be happy to see them too.

Only 2 weeks until I get back to sunny California and see everyone again. :)

November 19: Explode

What happens when Erin forgets that there is an essay due in one of her classes very soon? It's an interesting process, but the basic idea is this.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And then my head explodes leaving no trace but icky, gooey crap stuck to my walls. All I can say now is, "Bring it on Modern Gaelic Culture Essay!!!!! Just try and hit me! I dare you."

November 8: Brain Fart

Ok, so I actually finished my English Essay and got a great vote of confidence from both my parents who basically said "Well, change this one thing, but otherwise it's good." And that one thing was I accidentally forgot a word or I ended a sentence in a preposition. So I was feeling goo about it. So good about it I decided that since it's due Tuesday that I would write my introduction and conclusion and recheck my footnotes today and then turn it in tonight. Good plan right? Well, it would be a better one if the paper happened to be due Tuesday. Haha, Erin got her papers confused. It was due today by noon in the office and in "turn it in". Oh dear. It's ok though, I talked to my tutor and she said that one day wasn't so bad and it's going to be in first thing in the morning so good.

Now all I must to is finish my Art History Essay (I've stitched a picture because I couldn't find enough written on Madonna Litta) or rather I should start and finish my Art History Essay and get ready for a seminar I'm suppose to help lead tomorrow. It's going to be a long night.

November 6: Essays, Essays, Essays

I actually have gotten work done on my essays! That's ok people. No need for applause. :)

I haven't finished them yet, but I'm hoping to finish one completely tonight and the other tomorrow. AND I found out that one of my essays isn't due until Friday, so I'm going to sit on that one while I work on the ones that are due on Tuesday. I'm making real progress with my English essay, though I'm actually having a little trouble making it flow properly. Writer's block is my worst enemy. Well, actually I am my worst enemy. I'm sure I just think it's not flowing. But we'll see when I send it off the my editors (Mother and Father) and if they have time to read it over and tell me if it's crap or gold then I'll know for sure.

In other news I wasted my Saturday shopping. I got a robe (finally) at the Disney Store here which is much cooler than the one I have at home and a new pair of boots. Sadly, my Ugg knock offs that I've had for years just aren't keeping out the wet anymore. So, seeing as it's going to get a lot wetter from here on I've decided to retire them. I also bought one more thing, but that post is for tomorrow so you shall have to wait.

November 4: Procratination

I'm trying very hard to get these essays done, but you see I have this big problem. I'm a chronic procrastinator. I just can't seem to kick the habit no matter how hard I try.

What usually sets of the procrastination is that it's something I don't particularly want to do. I love writing, but writing essays just sort of bores me. And this time I have to write 3 different essays for 3 different classes all due on the same day. Each one of these essays is suppose to be done in a different format and style and I just don't quite feel like going in between the "British" version of MLA to...whatever it is my Art History essay is suppose to be written in. There's just so much more fun things to do.

For one, blogging. I like this kind of writing. It's fun and free and you can pretty much write about anything. In an essay I am set to what the markers want to read. If it were up to me I would go on long rant about how fairy tales used to be this great oral tradition of all of our ancestors and now they are a ploy of the movie and book industry to make more money than God (no offense Big Guy). But instead I have to write about how transformation can be analyzed phycologically (this is a word I've never been able to spell so, sorry) in fairy tales. Needless to say I'm choosing one of the many variations of "Beauty and the Beast" and saying that the Beast represents the young girl's fear of growing up into sexual awareness and her inhibition of the opposite sex. And I'm also using Snow White to point out that older women also have this fear of growing older and that the reason the queen turns into an old, ugly hag is because that is how she now sees herself. Nothing too exciting, but I have to find articles and books and journals that back up my point which is where I'm running into a wall on this one. I hate searching for journal articles because sometimes the most useful article only says one or two things on the subject but it's the most profound thing you have ever read. Only, you can't find those articles easily because they generally only show up on the 5th or 6th search.

See what I mean? There are just a lot of things that are more fun than sitting in the library searching endlessly through journals. This includes things like studying my Gaelic and cleaning my room. I know I'm weird but I do enjoy cleaning to an extent. A clean room allows your mind to become less cluttered and Lord knows I need a good sweeping in there.

So for now, to increase the quality of my essays you understand, I am going to unclutter my room so I can unclutter my mind.

If any of you have any advice on how to help with my procrastination I would welcome it.

November 3 (Part 2): Pictures

For my History of Art essay I am suppose to choose 2 paintings from the 1400-1600 and compare and contrast them. Here are the two paintings I chose to compare.

This is Madonna Litta by Leonardo Da Vinci. He was a painter of the High Renaissance so this is, obviously, a High Renaissance painting.
This is Madonna with the Long Neck by Girolamo Francesco Maria Mazzola, or as he is better know, Parmigianino. This is a Mannerism painting. Mannerism is the last part of the Italian Renaissance.

The reason I chose these two was because the subject matter is the same. They are both painting of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child. I figure it would be easier to compare the different styles and mediums and techniques used if the subject of the paintings were the same. That and I love Leonardo's work and Madonna with the Long Neck is one of the most interesting paintings I've seen. It's just my personal opinion of course. Parmigianino has also painted a few other paintings that I have found particularly interesting.

November 3: Never Do Art History

This is the pile of books I brought home from the library yesterday. I should have had 3 more, but one of them was larger than the largest book in that pile and I couldn't find the other two. I'm thinking about going back today to get the larger book and pick up a book I had reserved, but that one's not due back until 11:59 tonight so that one might not be in just yet.

The moral of the story is to never take an Art History calss. It's a lot of fun, but the books are ginormous. You should see some of the folios they have over here. I swear some of them look like they're heavier than me. And they told us that we were more than welcome to take the folios out of the library...if we had the upper body strength.

Anyway, these books should help me write my Art History essay, my English essay, and my Linguistics essay. All due next Tuesday. YIKES! But hey, only 1000 words! Who do they think I am? A first grader? I don't even know if I can get my point across in my English essay in 1000 words...and we have to count footnotes. Sigh...I hate having to condense my work. I think essays should be "write until you've fully answered the question."

Funny little tidbit about our library by the way. We have to use our Student ID cards to get in and out of the library. They are those turn stiles (I think that's what they're called) like the subways do in NY and LA. They read the barcode on our cards and the turn stile allows us to pass into the large and wonderful cavern of old books. But, they allow us to forget our card up to 3 times. After that they say, "sorry, go find your card or buy a new one." Fair enough. But when I was told this in a "How to Use the Library" lecture I started in a fit of giggles that I couldn't stop. I imagined a person trying to leave the library but he had forgotten his card one too many times and the librarians wouldn't let him leave. He was forever trapped behind the turn stiles with nothing but old books and newspapers for company. :)

National Blogging Month

I just found out that November is National Blogging Month. I'm a day behind, but I figure I'll probably post twice one day to make up for it. So, I too am going to try to do one post for every day in the Month of November without boring all you readers to death.

This week is reading week for both my Art History course and my Linguistic course. What does this mean you ask? It means I have to lectures or tutorials for either class for the whole week. The point of this week is for us to spend time working on our essays which I fully plan to do. I'm choosing my paintings for my Art History essay today and checking out books for all the essays I have due next Tuesday.

Speaking of that, I hate that all of my courses have their first essay due on the same day. It's rather frustrating because I have to jump between writing styles and essay questions and mode of thinking fast and effectively to write several different essays in my different courses.
